Purposes and legal bases

We process personal data to provide a functioning website, ensure stability and security, analyze usage in a privacy-conscious way, and handle contact requests.

The main legal bases are Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for the secure and efficient operation of the website and Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where your inquiry relates to a contract or pre-contractual communication.

Hosting and server log files

This website is technically provided through Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA.

When the website is accessed, technically necessary data may be processed, including IP address, date and time of the request, requested URL, referrer, browser type, operating system, and delivery-related information. This processing is required to serve the website, defend against attacks, and maintain service stability.

Vercel Web Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics for privacy-conscious audience measurement. According to Vercel, the service does not use cookies and only stores anonymized data for aggregated statistics.

The processed information may include visited pages, referrers, approximate location, browser and operating system details, and timestamps of page views. Vercel also states that visitors are not tracked across websites and that the visitor identifier is discarded after 24 hours.

To further reduce any personal reference, query parameters and URL fragments are removed before analytics data is sent to Vercel. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in measuring and improving our website in a data-minimizing manner.

Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process the data you provide solely to handle your request and any follow-up communication.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the communication is contract-related or pre-contractual, and otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Recipients and third-country transfers

Recipients of personal data may include technical service providers we use for hosting, delivery, and analytics, in particular Vercel Inc.

A transfer of personal data to the United States cannot be ruled out. Vercel states that it is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Regardless of that certification, data transfers to third countries may involve a different level of data protection than within the European Union.

Storage period

We store personal data only for as long as necessary for the relevant purposes or as long as statutory retention obligations apply.

Email inquiries are generally stored only as long as necessary to process and document the communication. For Web Analytics, Vercel states that the visitor identifier is discarded after 24 hours, while aggregated statistics may remain available in the Vercel dashboard beyond that period.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests.

If processing is based on consent in an individual case, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future.

Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. For private-sector organizations in Bavaria, the competent authority is generally the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany, https://www.lda.bayern.de.
